Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.com knows how to throw a party. Musicians, politicians and A listers are a regular feature at Dreamforce, the mega party Marc and Salesforce organise annually to bring customers, partners, tech pundits and like-minded individuals together.

Now we have a new superstar, in the form of a SaaS guru who has elevated to God status thanks to his prolific answers on Quora, which lead to the formation of SaaStr. Today, if you have a question about SaaS, you turn to Jason for advice. The demand grew to such a level that SaaStr Annual was born, a conference dedicated to learning and sharing of running a SaaS tech business.

Recap…2 years ago, I wrote about the emerging thought leader Jason Lemkin. Check it out here.

And now Jason got a music video out on SaaS, key metrics and the life of startups, burning and churning.

If you fancy singing along, here are the lyrics..you know you want to..

As I walk through the valley of Unicorn death
I take a look at my cash and realize there’s nothin’ left
‘Cause I’ve been burning and churning so long,
That even my mama thinks our next round is down

But I ain’t never raised money with structural terms
Me be treated like a punk you know that’s unheard of
You better watch how you’re selling and what you’re spending
Or you and your board might be starting to talk
Customer Success is hip and it’s not a joke
If they churn, my revenue goes up in smoke, fool
I’m the kinda G the YCs wanna be like
On my knees at month-end saying prayers for an e-sign

Been spending most our lives, living in the Saastr’s paradise
Been spending most our lives, living in the Saastr’s paradise
Jason Lemkin’s very wise, living in the Saastr’s paradise
Jason Lemkin’s very wise, living in the Saastr’s paradise

Look at the situation they got me facin’
I can’t live a normal life, always raising term sheets
So I gotta be down with the sales team
Too much time on Quora got me chasing dreams
I went to Saastr Annual school with IPO on my mind
Got seed funds in my hand and three commas in my eye
At my local maximum value only am I selling
My lead velocity’s down so don’t ask my ARR, fool
Inevitable ain’t nothing but a heartbeat away,
My valuations high, what can I say
I’m SMB now, will I need a field sales force
The way things are going I don’t know

Tell me why are we low ASP
Our CAC is high, low LTV

Been spending most our lives, living in the Saastr’s paradise
Been spending most our lives, living in the Saastr’s paradise
Jason Lemkin’s very wise, living in the Saastr’s paradise

His twitter posts are money, money MRR,
Should my quotas be monthly, or do them every quarter?
Everybody’s burning, but half of them in trouble
What’s going on in the NASDAQ, it’s obviously a bubble
They say I gotta learn, and Jason’s here to teach me
To the promised land, competitors can’t reach me
I guess they can’t, I guess they won’t
I guess they front, that’s why they need Jason’s SaaS startup, school

Been spending most our lives, living in the Saastr’s paradise
